Chihuahua, Chih.- Despite the political and economic uncertainty, the automotive industry in the state projects a good end to the year, said Sergio Mendoza Vidal, president of Chihuahua Futura.
This, the industrialist explained, since generally the last quarter of the year the automotive industry registers higher production volumes, to which are added the cut in the interest rate in the United States and the competitiveness in the exchange rate, factors that favor the sector. .
The scenario for next year, he said, will depend on the dialogue held by President Claudia Sheinbaum and whoever is elected as president in the United States and how they will work together for the integration of the two economies.
Mendoza Vidal indicated that there are problems of congestion at border crossings, as well as drug trafficking, among others, that must be resolved, since in six years they were not addressed.
“If we start to work together, if we reach agreements, if we put common sense before partisan or ideological interests, we can do many things and make Mexico do very well, but it depends on these wills,” he said.
The president of the Automotive Cluster, Jorge Charles Madrigal, previously stated that the auto parts industry in the state plans to exceed by the end of 2024 the figures reported the previous year when sales of 10 billion dollars (mdd) were reached.
The industrialist explained that the automotive sector is an economic thermometer and for the moment maintains a good pace, as the hiring of personnel and exports continue.
In the state, he specified, more than 400 automotive industry plants operate that generate more than 180 thousand direct jobs, in addition to indirect ones.
The National Auto Parts Industry (INA) reported that the auto parts sector is projected to close 2024 with 126,149 million dollars. This represents an increase of 4.12% compared to 2023 and establishes a milestone for the country.
In the first semester, sales of 63,336 million dollars were achieved, which implies a growth of 6.57% compared to the 59,430 million dollars reported in the same period of 2023.
The INA explained that the northern zone, the Bajío and the center of Mexico concentrate 94.9% of the production of auto parts in the country.
