The former chancellor: “The accusations are false and I will prove them”
Sebastian Kurz resigned as chancellor of the Federal Republic of Austria following corruption allegations. Kurz will remain on the national council as the parent company of the OeVP, the People’s Party of Austria. Kurz has proposed as his successor the current Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg (OeVP) who should, therefore, temporarily take over the chancellery.
“I have proposed the Foreign Ministry Alexander Schallenberg as my successor to President Alexander Van der Bellen.” This was stated by the Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz announcing his resignation after the veto of the Greens. «It would be irresponsible to leave our country in chaos and stalemate, it would also be irresponsible to experiment with a coalition of four that would depend on the graces of Herbert Kickl’s Freiheitlichen. I place the country’s interest ahead of mine, ”continued Kurz, announcing that he will remain in parliament as group leader and leader of the Oevp people’s party. “The allegations are false and I will prove it.”
