DPolish tennis player Magda Linette continued her winning streak at the Australian Open and reached the semi-finals. The 30-year-old prevailed in her quarter-final match on Wednesday against the disappointing Czech Karolina Pliskova 6: 3, 7: 5 and celebrated the biggest Grand Slam success of her career. “A dream comes true, I’m just happy,” said the well-deserved winner afterwards: “I’ll never forget that. That stays for life.”
In the fight for the final ticket, Linette meets the winner of the duel between Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka and Croatian Donna Vekic, who then faced each other at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena.
Linette is the third Polish woman to reach the semifinals of the Australian Open in the professional era. Her compatriot Iga Swiatek, who traveled to Down Under as the world number one as a tournament favorite, has been eliminated since the round of 16.
