Mohammed Gaus, father of fast bowler Mohammad Siraj, who was present in Australia for the upcoming series of four Tests, passed away. Gauss was 53 years old and was suffering from lung disease. His father played a key role in Siraj’s success as a cricketer and supported his son’s ambitions despite limited resources.
Royal Challengers Bangalore, Siraj’s Indian Premier League team tweeted, ‘We pray and mourn for Mohammed Siraj and his family who lost their father. The entire RCB family is with you in this difficult time. Mian, stay strong. ‘
It is learned that Siraj will not return to Hyderabad for the last rites due to segregation rules. After reaching Australia on 13 November, the Indian team is currently undergoing 14 days of segregation.
