Former fast bowler Zaheer Khan believes that the match between India and Australia will be decided by the performance of the bowlers as both teams have some of the best bowlers in the world.
The Indian team consists of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami, while the Australian team has Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins. The Indian cricket team is in Australia for the full series which includes three ODIs, three T20s and four Test matches. The tour will begin with the ODI series from 27 November.
Zaheer, who was part of the 2011 World Cup-winning Indian team, said, “Australian pitches always have good bounce and speed. So I think the bowlers will decide the ODIs, T20s and Test series as well as how the teams perform as a unit to stop the rival team on low scores.
He said, “At the moment when someone talks about the top level bowlers in the world, all the names that come in our mind will be on the pitch for this series.”
Zaheer also said that India will face a tough challenge in Australia with the presence of Steve Smith and David Warner. When India beat Australia 2–1 on their last time, Warner and Smith were not present in the team as both players were banned for a year in the ball tampering case.
The former Indian fast bowler said in a release released by Sony Pictures Sports Network, the official broadcaster of the series, ‘Now that Steve Smith and David Warner have returned to the Australian team, the Indians have definitely come from a previous tour of Australia You will have to face a tougher challenge.
He said, “There are no strong contenders in this series as both the teams have excellent batting and bowling line-up and this will make the upcoming tour interesting to watch.”
