Audi is developing its vision of future mobility through its concepts, which all bear the suffix –
sphere. The last to be unveiled was the Urbansphere, designed to make urban journeys as comfortable and luxurious as possible.
Not for nothing was it designed through the collaboration of the brand’s image studios of the four rings of Beijing and its headquarters, in Ingolstadt (Germany). For the first time in creating one of these models, the manufacturer has taken into account the opinions of its potential audience in China.
For them – especially for those who can afford a German premium car –
priorities in a vehicle are clear: It has to be a luxurious, open-plan mobile office, with total privacy, maximum comfort, high technology and a focus on passenger seating, as many have their own private drivers.
Since it is a concept, Audi engineers have allowed their imaginations to run wild and hope that once it is available on the roads, it will already have level 4 autonomous driving. This will mean that the steering wheel, pedals and screens can be removed from the interior to give even more space.
And it is that, despite being a car designed for densely populated Chinese cities,
the Urbansphere is a gigantic vehicle 5.51 meters long, 2.01 wide and 1.78 high. Another dimension that stands out is its great battle, 3.4 meters, which gives it a cavernous interior.
In addition, it is in this of the -spheres that Audi has wanted to carry out the deep development of its functionalities in the multimedia system. According to the manufacturer itself “in the future, exclusive and personalized events will be offered, such as concerts or sports matches to which customers may be invited.”
Inside, the protagonists are the seats themselves, which can be tilted up to 60 degrees and see their leg rests extended to practically become beds. A system has been implemented in the headrest to cover the face in case you want to opt for more privacy, as well as its own sound system.
for rear passengers
a large screen hanging from the ceiling is available, to watch a movie, join a video conference together, or use the split-screen feature. As this monitor is transparent, when not in use, it allows you to see through the panoramic glass roof.
Finally, Audi cannot leave its sporting ambitions behind, and intends to equip the Urbansphere with two electric motors with a combined output of 295 kW, or 395 hp. The batteries have 800-volt technology, which allows them to support loads of up to 270 kW and recover 300 kilometers of autonomy in 10 minutes.
