Do you remember the great Audi A6 e-tron concept from April last year? The version you want is finally here: the Audi A6 Avant e-tron. Not only does it look fantastic, it is proof that Audi will build station wagons in the electric future. The Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo and MG 5 EV are finally getting some competition.
As with the A6 e-tron that appeared last year, Audi says this A6 Avant e-tron is between 90 and 95 percent complete. It gets a similar closed grille and taillight bar as its brother, plus big wheels, short overhangs and quite square wheel arches.

Audi didn’t provide trunk space stats, but we’re confident the Avant won’t disappoint in the Storage Championships. Overall, it’s the same size as the sedan – 4.96 meters long, 1.96 meters wide and 1.44 meters high – but as expected, it’s slightly less aerodynamic. A drag coefficient of 0.24 against 0.22 for the A6 e-tron.
Battery and range Audi A6 Avant e-tron
The electric A6 will be based on Audi and Porsche’s upcoming PPE platform, which means an 800-volt architecture and fast charging speeds of up to 270 kW. The floor-mounted battery will measure approximately 100 kWh and would provide up to 700 kilometers of range in certain specifications.
The production version of the Audi A6 Avant e-tron comes as a rear-wheel drive or as a four-wheel drive. The latter gets a motor on each axle. The 0-100 time of the fastest versions is around 4 seconds and 10 minutes of charging should be good for more than 450 kilometers.
There will also be cameras like door mirrors, a huge rear diffuser and chic LED headlights that can project video games onto walls so you can play while charging.
Will the petrol A6 disappear?
However, the Audi A6 Avant e-tron will not be the end of the combustion-engined A6 – Audi confirms that petrol-powered cars will be available in some markets alongside the e-trons for a while.
