54 visitors to amusement park Slagharen were stuck in an attraction for more than an hour this afternoon at a height of about 10 meters. The Eagle, a 32-meter colossus, came to a sudden standstill around noon due to a technical malfunction. The occupants of the gondolas were rescued by the fire brigade using a cherry picker.
The Eagle suddenly stopped moving up and down around 12 noon. “We then stopped him. The people have been liberated and we will continue to investigate what caused it,” said director Dave Storm. According to the director of the park, the fire brigade rushed to the spot to provide assistance. The occupants could be helped out of the attraction with a cherry picker.
According to Storm, The Eagle is now closed until further notice. The cause of the malfunction will be investigated. ,,That could be something very simple, or it could perhaps cause it to take a little longer. I don’t really expect that, but we’ll see tomorrow.”
The visitors were received in the catering of the park. To recover from the shock, Storm explains. ,,The guests were quite calm I must say. We took good care of them.” The injured visitors received a free ticket from the park. The amusement park regrets that the incident could have happened.
