I study MAP celebrated its 10th anniversary with a special event where new details have popped up on the second half of the final season of Attack on Titan. This information concerns both the period in which we will finally be able to watch the new episodes, and how the series will end.
On Twitter, the animation studio had announced with a post that the new installment, which will start from # 76, will arrive during “winter 2022“. This has raised many doubts in fans, since at first glance it could be either December 2022 or January 2022. The doubt has been dispelled by Japanese fans: in the land of the rising sun usually the new seasons of anime that start in winter usually start in the period between December and February.
The first part of the fourth season premiered in December 2020, so it looks like the second half could come to the end of this year. The tweet also specifies that we will be able to witness the conclusion of the series in the first half of 2022, without having to wait a whole year.
Speaking of the ending, during the event there was also talk of how it could end Attack on Titan. In the middle of a chat with the director, he specified that during the drafting of the season he he was unaware of how the manga would end. This suggests that the animated transposition will have a different purpose than the paper counterpart.
It shouldn’t surprise us as a statement: more often than not there have been cases of anime that started while the manga was still in progress and that had to take a different path once they reached parity with the plot on paper. They have often led to questionable results, but at other times also to something original. Everything will depend on the direction they have given to the latest episodes of Attack on Titan.
Have you had the opportunity to try the videogame transpositions of the series? Here you can find our review of the second chapter.
