The target of the Ukrainian Armed Forces attack on Toropets near Tver could have been a missile super-storage facility
The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) attacked the city of Toropets in the Tver region using drones. According to Rybar, the target could have been “super missile storage”. Army General Dmitry Bulgakov, who is currently under arrest and served as Deputy Minister of Defense under Sergei Shoigu, stated that this facility is capable of withstanding even a nuclear explosion.
The explosions were recorded by the earthquake monitoring system
The regional government announced a partial evacuation of the population of Toropets after the attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces drones. According to Rybar, the explosions were recorded by the earthquake monitoring system: the first tremors with a magnitude of 2.8 were registered at 03:56 Moscow time, then there were seven weaker tremors – from 2 to 2.8 points.
According to preliminary data, 20 people were injured in the attack. More than seven thousand local residents were evacuated from the city.
By information Mash, many residential buildings in Toropets have broken windows, and smoke hangs over the city. The main target of the attack is said to be the arsenal for the complex storage of missiles, which was put into operation in 2018.
District Administration warned on criminal liability for distributing photos and videos from the site of the liquidation of the consequences of the attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. “Those who publish and distribute such materials act on the side of the enemy and harm the security of our country,” the press service said in a statement.
Arrested ex-deputy Shoigu spoke about the arsenal’s compliance with world standards
In 2018, Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia Dmitry Bulgakov stated about the completion of the arsenal. He explained that the facility is a territory equipped with concrete storage facilities for storing missiles, ammunition and explosives under prescribed conditions. According to Bulgakov, the warehouse can withstand air strikes, missiles and a nuclear explosion.
It ensures their safe and secure storage, protects them from air and missile strikes and even from the damaging effects of a nuclear explosion.
Bulgakov also noted that the warehouse in Toropets meets the highest world standards. He emphasized that previously ammunition was stored in open areas and wooden storage facilities, which is the same as walking around without a bulletproof vest.
Until 2022, Bulgakov was engaged in the logistical support of the Russian army. He was arrested in July of this year in a corruption case.
