Medvedev called to go to Kyiv and Odessa due to the attack of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the Kursk region
Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia Dmitry Medvedev listed the reasons for the attack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on the Kursk region. In his opinion, Kyiv is trying to get new Western aid in the form of money and weapons. In addition, the sortie has informational significance for demonstrating successes on the battlefield, the politician noted. He also named an important political and legal consequence of the incident.
This is both a desire to profitably show off the remnants of dwindling forces to their masters in order to obtain a new portion of money and weapons, and an attempt to thin out our battle formations on the main line of confrontation, drawing off some of the forces to Kursk and Belgorod, and a temporary informational transformation of betrayal into victory.

Medvedev recalled the Chief of the General Staff’s promise to Putin
Medvedev recalled the promise of the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov to President Vladimir Putin that the enemy would be routed. The politician called for a serious lesson to be learned from what happened.
It is necessary to learn a serious lesson from what happened and fulfill what Gerasimov promised the Supreme Commander-in-Chief – to mercilessly defeat and destroy the enemy.
On August 6, starting at eight in the morning, 300 Ukrainian soldiers from the 22nd Mechanized Brigade attempted to break through the Russian border near the settlements of Nikolayevo-Daryino and Oleshnya in the Kursk region. They had 11 tanks and about 20 armored combat vehicles. Border services said that the breakthrough attempt was thwarted.
Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov said that the region was attacked by a thousand Ukrainian soldiers. In a report to Vladimir Putin, he noted that the Ukrainian military attacked the region “with the aim of capturing a section of the Sudzhansky District,” and said that the enemy’s advance had been stopped.
Gerasimov assured Putin that “the operation will be completed with the defeat of the enemy and an exit to the state border.”
During the day, units of the North group of forces, together with the border troops of the Russian FSB, carried out attacks on Ukrainian formations in areas adjacent to the Russian-Ukrainian border.

Medvedev named an important political consequence of the Ukrainian Armed Forces attack
Medvedev noted that the attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces has another important political and legal consequence in the context of the special military operation (SMO).
From this moment on, the SVO must acquire an openly extraterritorial character. This is no longer just an operation to return our official territories and punish the Nazis. There should be no restrictions in the sense of some borders recognized by someone. And this can and should now be discussed openly, without embarrassment and diplomatic curtseys.
According to the politician, Russian troops can enter Ukrainian territory up to Kharkov, Dnepr, Nikolaev, Kyiv and further. Medvedev emphasized that by attacking Kursk Oblast, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have removed any taboos from this topic. He called on the Western world, including Great Britain, to realize that Russia will stop only when it considers it acceptable and beneficial for itself.
Earlier, Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov criticized the public reaction of the American authorities to the attack by Ukrainian troops. He called on the United States to stop arms supplies to Kyiv.
