Atlético got the better of the Minas Gerais derby against América, played this Saturday night at the Independência Stadium, in Belo Horizonte, for the 11th round of the Brazilian Championship. The victory by 1-0, the fourth straight by Galo in the competition, made the team jump to 22 points and reach third place in the table, surpassing Athletico Paranaense. Coelho, with nine points, is in 16th place, on the edge of the relegation zone.
In the first half, the two teams alternated in creating danger chances. América even scored, but Carlos Alberto had the goal disallowed by the VAR for offside. Galo hit goalkeeper Matheus Cavichioli’s post.
On the way back to the second half, coach Cuca made two changes that turned out to be decisive. Hulk and Colombian Dylan Borrero gave another tone to the game. At 22, in a move initiated by the Hulk, Borrero scored first when receiving a sugary pass from Savarino already inside the area. The goal ended up defining the match.

In the next round, Atlético visit Corinthians, in São Paulo, on Saturday (17). However, before that, Galo starts the Libertadores round of 16 confrontation against Boca Juniors, with the first game on Tuesday (13), in Buenos Aires. Coelho enters the field only on the second of the following week (19), when he receives the Sport.
São Paulo wins the second in a row and breathes
After starting the Brazilian Championship amending nine games without a win, São Paulo reached their second win in a row by beating Bahia 1-0, also on Saturday night, at Morumbi. The goal of the match was already scored in the additions of the second stage. After a cross by Reinaldo on the left side, Liziero appeared to head in. Bahia was left to regret the opportunities wasted in the first stage, including a ball on Tiago Volpi’s crossbar.
With the result, São Paulo was 11 points, in 14th place, while Bahia, with 17, is sixth.
