There is good news for the establishment Sevel of Atessaan important Italian factory and fundamental pivot for the group’s activities Stellantis relating to light commercial vehicles. On 27 September 2022 the production plant reached a historic figure, 7 million vehicles produced from the opening to today.
Today at Sevel the chassis and vans are produced Fiat Professional Ducato, Citroën Jumper, Peugeot Boxer and Opel / Vauxhall Movano. The production site, whose acronym, we recall, is the European Light Vehicle Company, was created as a joint venture between Fiat and PSA-Peugeot Citroën in 1978. Inaugurated in 1981, the plant has an area of over 1.2 million meters square and can potentially produce up to 1,200 vehicles per day. It is the largest and most flexible light commercial vehicle plant in Europe, capable of a wide range of configurations.
“The Sevel team contributes on a daily basis to achieving our goal of being the undisputed leader of the commercial vehicle market“Said Uwe Hochgeschurtz, Stellantis Chief Operating Officer of Enlarged Europe. “The plant has a long history of making products our professional customers want and need, and will continue to play a key role in achieving 40% of our battery electric vehicle sales mix by 2030. Congratulations. to the whole team for today’s result“.
Incidentally, Stellantis and Toyota Motor Europe (TME) recently announced that Stellantis will supply the Japanese manufacturer with a new large commercial vehicle (also in battery electric version), which will be marketed in Europe under the Toyota brand and will be produced in the Stellantis factories in Gliwice, Poland, and in Atessa itself.
Surely we must congratulate, in this case, all the workers of the plant, who in recent years have continued to produce cars in the midst of crises and pandemics. Not to mention that in over 40 years of history the workforce has resisted a long series of governments with the most disparate leadersand has maintained the chance to innovate despite the many managerial ‘earthquakes’ that occurred within Fiat and FCA, up to the current ownership of Stellantis.
