One of the great surprises of Indie World today was the revelation of a reboot of Yars' Revenge. This new title, known as Yars Risingis a collaboration between Atari, the property owners, and WayForward, the developers. This installment is inspired by Mr Run and Jumpand will be available at the end of 2024.
Yars Rising gives us the opportunity to play Emi Kimura, a hacker who is hired by a mysterious employer “to infiltrate the shadowy Qotech corporation.” In addition to platforms, combats and a selection of mini-games, the reboot will offer stealth and hacking sections.
For those who don't recognize this property, Yars' Revenge is the best-selling Atari game on the 2600, and now it will have the opportunity to reach the hands of a new generation thanks to this reboot. As a WayForward fan, this is a title I won't miss. Considering that Shantae Risky's Revolution is not a completely new game, it is very likely that the studio will not have many problems working on two titles at the same time.
