At the age of 71, William Hurt died a week before his birthday. His family speaks of a natural death. The actor won an Oscar in 1985 for his role in the drama Kiss of the Spider Woman.
Dhe actor and Oscar winner Willam Hurt died at the age of 71 according to consistent media reports. The actor died peacefully on Sunday a week before his 72nd birthday, quoted the online portal “Deadline” from a statement by Hurt’s son Will. Hurt was diagnosed with end-stage prostate cancer in May 2018. The son did not say in his statement whether the actor succumbed to his cancer.
The family confirmed the Oscar winner’s death to Variety magazine.
Hurt won the 1985 Best Actor Oscar for his role in The Spider Woman’s Kiss, in which he played Luis Molina, a gay inmate who shares a cell with a political prisoner in a Brazilian prison. Hurt received further nominations in 1987 for his performance in God’s Forgotten Children, a year later for his role in Broadcast News, and in 2006 for his supporting role in Canadian director David Cronenberg’s A History of Violence.
