At least 13 people were killed in a shooting at a school in Izhevsk, central Russia, local authorities announced on Monday. After shooting at the victims, the killer committed suicide.
“According to preliminary information, 13 people, including six adults and seven minors, were victims of the crime. Another 14 adults and seven children were injured, revealed the Russian Investigative Committee.
The agency also announced that it is working on identifying the suspect, who was wearing a sweatshirt with a Nazi symbol and a hood.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov declared that “the president (Vladimir Putin) deeply regrets the death of children in this school where there was a terrorist attack”.
The shooting comes at a turbulent time in the country, after the announcement of the mobilization of 300,000 reservists in the escalation of the offensive against Ukraine. Also on Monday, a man shot at a Russian army recruitment center in Siberia.
