Elizabeth Laruma, president of the Porgera Business Women’s Association, announced that the landslide fell on the town while the inhabitants were sleeping, this, according to information from RT.
“It happened when people were still sleeping at dawn and the whole town collapsed.”
He added that the tragedy came when a an area fell off a nearby mountain to the community.
Papua New Guinea is a developing country located on the continent of Oceania where more than 800 languages are spoken, with agriculture as one of its main economic activities.
It has more than 10 million inhabitants, being the nation with the largest number of people in the southern Pacific Ocean after Australia, which has a record of 27 million.
