A few days after the presentation of the first Copilot+ PC from ASUS, the first images arrive showing the components and construction of the new one Vivobook S 15. The laptop equipped with Snapdragon Let’s find out the details together.
Welded Ram and optimized cooling system
The new ASUS Vivobook S 15 is equipped with the new Snapdragon X Elite and brings up to 32 GB of LPDDR5X RAM. However, the company has made design choices that differentiate the device from Apple’s competitors.
The images were released by Anshel Sag and offer us a look at the inside of the Vivobook S 15, starting from the Qualcomm SoC. As you can see, for the RAM modules ASUS has relied on Micron and positioned the chips near the processor, so as to optimize communication between the components.
This approach differs from Apple’s unified RAM, soldering the RAM onto the motherboard limits users’ ability to upgrade.
In reverse, ASUS chose a regular M.2 SSD with available slots: this will allow the storage memory to be upgraded and it will therefore be possible to potentially install faster and more spacious models.
Finally, the cooling system stands out, with exposed pipes and two fans which should perform their duty very well: thanks to this, the Snapdragon X Elite could surpass the performance of the most recent Apple M4.
Design and availability
Vivobook comes with a thickness of just 14.7 millimeters and a total weight of 1.42 kg, showing off a thin profile and a rather minimal design, thanks to the cooling system ASUS IceCool Thermal Technology which we just mentioned.
The version with Snapdragon X Elite and 32 GB of LPDDR5X RAM starts from 1399 Euros: Vivobook S 15 OLED can already be pre-ordered on the official website, while the release is set for June 19th.
