Russian crew members of the 66th long-term expedition to the International Space Station, cosmonauts (ISS) Anton Shkaplerov and Peter Dubrov on Thursday, November 4, congratulated the Russians on National Unity Day. They recorded a video congratulation from orbit, footage of the recording was provided by Roskosmos.
“With this holiday we pay tribute to the memory of the long-standing events of 1612, when in a single spiritual and military impulse the people’s militia led by Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky liberated Moscow from foreign invaders,” Shkaplerov noted.
In turn, Dubrov recalled how the Russian people united in the face of danger in order to defeat a common enemy for the sake of peace and prosperity.
The cosmonauts wished the Russians never to lose, to preserve and cherish the feeling of national unity, the fraternal feeling of the citizens of the country.
“Be healthy and take care of your loved ones,” summed up Dubrov.
The cosmonauts themselves continue to work on the ISS according to the standard schedule; they will have days off only on November 6 and 7.
On the eve of the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov said that Russian President Vladimir Putin on November 4, will arrive in Sevastopol, where he will visit the memorial dedicated to the end of the civil war in Russia, speak there and meet with the head of the region Mikhail Razvozhaev. According to him, the head of state will fly to Crimea from Sochi on the occasion of National Unity Day.
