The cosmonauts found new blind cracks in the first and oldest Zarya module of the International Space Station (ISS) during a survey of the Russian segment of the station. The cosmonaut fears that the cracks in the Zarya may gradually spread, since previously through cracks were discovered in another Zvezda module.
Earlier, on August 24, the head of Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, confirmed that Russia, in the event of a withdrawal from the ISS project, will not abandon its obligations to organize the flooding of the station when its resource is fully depleted.
He also said that the issue of continuing Russia’s participation in the International Space Station project should be resolved in the coming months.
After 2030, Russia plans to create its own space station.
