The Dutch Grand Prix in the MotoGP class and this time to make a mistake – clearly – he was the only rider so far totally free from errors during the season: Fabio Quartararo. The world leader in the first laps of the race on the Assen track found himself in third position, behind Pecco Bagnaia and Aleix Espargarò’s Aprilia, his main rival in the general classification. The Frenchman, riding his Yamaha, tried to attack his Spanish rival in turn 5, trying to pass him inside but calculating the entry times very badly. In fact, his M1 threw itself in decidedly late, finding itself closed between the internal curb and Aprilia # 41.
Quartararo, squeezing the interior so tight, has lost control of the bike and is fell badly, also taking the Spanish centaur off the track, totally innocent. Aleix somehow managed to get back on track without crashing, but making a long excursion in the gravel he lost a lot of positions, returning to the edge of the points zone. Quartararo instead slipped into the escape route, struggling to get the bike up and restarting last and rather detached from the rest of the group.
The man from Nice also returned to the pits a few laps after the accident, talking to his mechanics and then choosing to return to the track again, in an attempt to finish the race anyway. In turn 5, however, while traveling in last position, Quartararo was the victim of one second falltotally alone this time, who has spoken end to his race. After this second accident the # 20 also showed severe pain in his legs, caused by the hard fall on the asphalt after being thrown into the air by the bike.
