The Asian Paralympic Committee and the Korea Institute of Sport Science, at the Dubai Sports Council, signed a partnership agreement to cooperate and work together to implement the goals and objectives that the two parties seek to achieve for the benefit of “people of determination” in Asia, and to adopt joint initiatives that enhance their capabilities, in order to develop Paralympic sports throughout the continent.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the Asian Paralympic Committee by Majid Al-Osaimi, Chairman of the Committee, and on behalf of the Korea Institute of Sport Sciences by Dr. Song Kang-Young, President of the Institute.
The signing ceremony was attended by Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council, Majid Al Osaimi, President of the Asian Paralympic Committee, Nasser Aman Al Rahma, Assistant Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council, Dr. Sung Kang, President of the Korea Institute of Sports Science, Thani Jumaa Balraqad, Chairman of the Dubai Club for People of Determination, and a number of officials.
The terms of the agreement defined the mechanisms of work and support for joint efforts in implementing programmes dedicated to Paralympic athletes.
The agreement focused on exchanging knowledge, best practices, research, technologies and artificial intelligence in the field of sports sciences, to enhance the capabilities of coaches and athletes across Asia, by developing training programmes and scientific research, and benefiting from the Institute’s extensive experience in the field of sports sciences, according to a comprehensive approach to developing sports performance.
For his part, Majed Al-Osaimi expressed his happiness with this agreement, which complements the comprehensive strategy of the Asian Paralympic Movement, which primarily targets players, by empowering them and developing their athletic, psychological and physiological skills.
He said: The agreement, which was signed in Dubai, the headquarters of the Asian Paralympic Committee, covers the axis of research and studies that develop scientific and technical aspects, within a well-studied scientific framework and a method that can be developed and sustained.
He said: This step, with its scientific gains, adds a new dimension and a qualitative leap in the development of “people of determination” in the largest continent in the world.
He added that the unique initiative achieves the aspirations of “people of determination” according to the best scientific practices, with the Asian Paralympics and the Korean Institute keen on joint cooperation and unifying efforts.
Al-Asimi stressed that the UAE and Dubai have made great strides in empowering and qualifying “people of determination” in many fields, indicating that on the sports level, the support and follow-up of the wise leadership had a great impact on the “Knights of Will” reaching global podiums, in addition to assuming administrative positions at the regional and global levels.
For his part, Dr. Song Kang-young described the Korea Institute of Sports Science as a leading research institution focused on enhancing sports performance. He explained that the institute has gained global recognition for its advanced research in the field of sports science, such as exercise physiology, biomechanics and sports psychology, making it a key player in the development of sports science worldwide.
He said: “Through this partnership, we look forward to developing the capabilities of players in Asia, through sports science, which contributes to enhancing their happiness and improving their quality of life.”
