The Hesperia chain seeks a solution before the end of the contract with the responsible company so as not to be left without service on March 1
Around sixty cleaning workers who provide service at the five-star La Manga Club hotel are scheduled to gather at the doors of the establishment, at noon this Friday, because they fear losing their jobs next Tuesday, March 1.
The reason is the lack of agreement, for now, to sign a new contract to replace the one that expires on the last day of February, between the lack of agreement, for now, between the Hesperia Group, which manages the accommodation, and the company Samsic, that it provides to the staff, sources close to La Manga Club reported on Thursday. The negotiations continue, but the last meeting held on Wednesday did not lead to any agreement and the sources consulted took it for granted that the talks will continue until the beginning of next week.
The Hesperia Group has already made some moves so that the cleaning service is not left without providing. The sources consulted confirmed that workers who are immersed in a Temporary Employment Regulation File since May last year have been offered the possibility of recycling and returning to the company as those in charge of these tasks. From the La Manga Club Company Committee, they pointed out that they are not aware that anyone has accepted. They also indicated that given this refusal, the hotel chain could have polled external people.
La Manga Club has about 80 people working at the moment. In the spring of last year, it formalized more than a hundred layoffs and kept some 50 people in ERTE, to return to activity after the break due to the pandemic. The hotel group, which took over the management of the hotel in the summer of 2019, indicated ten months ago that these measures were the only way to maintain the viability of the company.
