The famous streaming service Netflix has recently spread the first official images of Army of Thieves, the prequel to the famous Army of the Dead released this year. This film is directed by Matthias Schweighöfer who will also play its protagonist, Ludwig Dieter.
The latter work, which again sees Zack Snyder at the screenplay, will arrive on the service later in the year, with not yet a specific date. The news of a possible second film was already in the air, according to some statements by the director himself.
What few could think of was though a story set before the events of the film, as it is also explained in the official synopsis available on the site:
In this “Army of the Dead” prequel, a mysterious woman recruits the banker Dieter to help her rob impregnable safes across Europe.
It therefore appears that the whole plot will reveal the origins of Dieter’s character, in what is a real race for European safes. Along with the actor and director in the cast are also Nathalie Emmanuel, Guz Khan, Ruby O. Fee, Stuart Martin, Jonathan Cohen, Noemie Nakai and Peter Simonischek.

It therefore seems, at least from the first images, that this new story will be more about a bank heistrather than dealing with hordes of zombies. Despite this, however, we cannot exclude other elements that will surely surprise us, given the screenplay by Zack Snyder.
The director, for those who do not remember him, he has directed many hugely successful films, including 300, Watchmen, The man of steel is Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Also owned by DC Comics even the most recent Zack Snyder’s Cut Justice League, of which you can read our review here.
Currently the official information continue to confirm a release for 2021, however, without confirmation of the actual period. In case you got lost Army of the Dead you can still retrieve it on Netflix, along with our review.
