The Secretary of National Defense (Sedena) is preparing to purchase high-powered weapons, such as .50 caliber machine guns for air and ground support, as well as ammunition for Barret rifles.
According CompraNetOn June 23, the Army published a request for a quote to buy 286,600 precision .50 caliber cartridges for Barret rifles, 451,200 armor-piercing bullets and 112,800 tracer rounds.
The Sedena It details that the interested companies had to send their price quotes and compliance capacity on July 5, so that the federal agency will be in charge of deciding whether to launch the tender.
The Army also launched two contests for the acquisition of various types of weapons. The first was published on June 18 to search for nine precision rifles, as well as three machine guns for air support and three for ground, all .50 caliber.
As well as three 7.62 caliber multi-barrel machine guns; six .308 caliber precision rifles; nine 12-gauge semi-automatic shotguns; and 33 automatic rifles caliber 5.56.
On July 30, interested companies will present their economic proposals, and the ruling will be announced on August 16.
The second tender corresponds to the purchase of 29 million 500 thousand bullets for equipment of the Military Police, of these, 17 million 500 thousand are caliber 5.56×44 millimeters, while 12 million are caliber 9×19 millimeters. The resolution will be announced on August 9.
If completed, it will be the second contract of its kind in recent months, since on December 15, 2020, MILLENNIUM published about the award of 27 million bullets and 134 thousand .50 caliber cartridges for precision rifles, for which it paid 176 million 84 thousand 868 pesos and one million 698 thousand 636 dollars (about 34 million 57 thousand 652 pesos), respectively. _
