The Supreme Court of Argentina rejected, this Tuesday (22), appeals that the defense of former president and current vice president of Argentina, Cristina Kirchner, had presented in the judicial process involving alleged irregularities in the concession of road works.

Judicial sources reported that the court unanimously rejected all objections that had been rejected by both the former president’s defense and those of other defendants in the so-called “Vialidad” case. In it, Cristina Kirchner is prosecuted for the alleged crime of illicit association and fraud to the detriment of the public administration.

Her defense had filed several appeals seeking to demand more evidence, questioning the performance of some appeals rooms and even the alleged partial incompetence of the intervening oral court. The case file sought to annul the ongoing oral trial against Cristina Kirchner and other defendants in the case, which will resume on July 11 with the start of the argument phase.

In the case, the alleged irregularities in the concession of 51 public works to companies owned by businessman Lázaro Báez during the governments of Néstor Kirchner (2003-2007) and Cristina Kirchner (2007-2015) in the province of Santa Cruz are judged.
