The identification of the body was given just one day before “Paty’s” birthday.
“It was moving and at the same time I am deeply grateful for having been able to be there, that we can all realize that it was her,” said Corina, visibly moved.
The woman, also a climber, was part of the expedition in which her sister lost her life.
“Paty”, Corina and a mountaineer of Italian nationality who wanted to climb to the top of the Mercedarian, they camped on March 27, 1981 at 5,000 meters above sea level, however, the first one accidentally fell into a crack in a glacier and it was not possible to rescue it.
Almost a year later, his family from the province of Tucuman he returned to the mountain with the aim of finding his body, but was unsuccessful.
Although her brothers were able to identify her at the morgue, they underwent studies of dna required by the judicial authorities of San Juan as a previous step to deliver the body of the climber.
Paty’s brothers told the press that the young woman’s ashes will be scattered in the Mercedarian.
