About 500 people are attending a rave party on the Alpe di Poti, the mountain above Arezzo at the moment. They come from all over Italy and have been gathered since last night in an old farmhouse near the former Fontemura mineral water factory. Participants gathered around 9.00pm on December 31st to celebrate New Year’s Eve bringing boxes and equipment to make music. The police tried to disperse and drive them away. During the night, checkpoints were also carried out to stop the flow of cars, which caused moments of tension. A thick fog also complicates the situation. The area where the rave takes place is almost uninhabited, with many woods and also dangerous to reach due to narrow and dirt roads.
One of the few residents in the area was slightly injured in the face by a boy who attended the rave. In fact, an argument would have arisen because of a truck blocking the road. The man, victim of the attack, then turned to the police and was treated by an ambulance staff.
On the spot there are police, carabinieri and financial police who guard the occupied area. The participants of the rave, however, do not seem willing to want to leave. The picture is constantly evolving: “At the moment the situation is under control and we have opened a dialogue with the organizers”, said the commissioner of Arezzo, Dario Sallustio, as reported by La Nazione.
