A man was reported who had occupied the free beach with sunbeds and 50 umbrellas. The seizure was triggered following the Mare Safe operation
Genoa – Via umbrellas and sunbeds from the beach of the locality “Pizzo” in Arenzano. The soldiers of the Coast Guard of Genoa and of the local Maritime Office of Arenzano intervened for seize about 50 umbrellas as well as sunbeds, boats and tables, illegally placed on the beach preventing the free use of the beach. During the operation, the illegal construction of a precarious and unsafe walkway, made with wooden boards and structures which connected the beach to the restaurant above and was also seized.
The person in charge was reported for illegal occupation of the maritime state propertyoccupation of public land, illegal constructions in violation of landscape restrictions and without the prescribed building and state property permits and for the illegal rental of pleasure boats.
The seizure was triggered following the regular checks that the Coast Guard is carrying out during theSafe Sea operation, which sees among its objectives – in addition to safety at sea and the protection of the marine environment – checks on the correct use of free beaches and stretches of sea intended for public use. The control activity has the purpose of preventing and contrasting the illegal occupation of the coast by subjects who, without having the right to do so, make personal use of it or for profit.
The operation, which will continue throughout the bathing season, has made it possible to return to the community – throughout the national territory – about 131 thousand square meters of beaches and stretches of sea intended for public use.
