The creators of Arcane, the new animated series on Netflix that takes place in the world of League of Legends, they seem interested in creating more shows set in this universe.
Although Riot Games has not announced any future TV series or movies associated with the famous title, the ones they worked on Arcane they haven’t tried to hide the fact that telling more stories in this world is something the company wants to do in the near future
Speaking with colleagues from ComicBook.com before the release of Arcane, co-creators and executive producers Christian Linke and Alex Yee spoke about the series and its creation. While acknowledging that at this time they were mainly focused on launching Arcane, it was also asked if Riot whether or not he had plans to work on new multimedia projects in the future. In response, the producer duo said it was in their plans. In that sense, Yee stated the following:
I think the company has always wanted to allow players to spend time with the characters and make it clear who they are when they are off the battlefield. And so many people over time have really poured their love and energy into making the characters of this world three-dimensional.
So I think there is definitely interest in exploring these stories more. Now we focus mainly on Arcane and learn what we’ve done so far, but I think everyone would be really happy to be able to tell new stories in many different types of media for other characters.
As mentioned, Riot hasn’t announced anything about any future programs, movies, or other projects that they may be related to League of Legends in addition to Arcane. However, lately it has shown more initiative in recent years to expand the franchise of League of Legends.
Right now, for example, they are in the works several spin-off games, including an MMO and a fighting game associated with League of Legends.
