The diver Aranza Vázquez placed sixth in the final of the individual three-meter springboard of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, after adding 303.45 units during five executions.
In the first jump he scored seven to place sixth at the end of that round. For the second dive, she was punished by the judges in her execution and received marks of six and seven, in order to place herself on the seventh rung.
For the third dive Vázquez received a 7.5 rating to move up to fifth place. In this round, Canadian Jennifer Abel missed her jump and with that disappeared from the medal zone, and now the challenge was to catch up with American Krysta Palmer, who placed third but was already 13 points ahead of the Mexican. The Chinese Tingmao Shi and Hang Wang were already in the first two places.
In the fourth jump, Vázquez failed to enter the water and was punished by the judges and received marks of five, and from that moment the possibility of achieving an Olympic podium was lost. The national athlete went up to seventh place.
Finally, the Mexican diver only had to close with her participation in her Olympic debut, and she did so with a jump that gave her ratings of 7.5, and thus finally finished in the sixth step with 303.45 units and with the Olympic diploma.
Gold went to Tingmao Shi with 383.50 and silver also for Asian Hang Wang with 348.75, and bronze for American Krysta Palmer with 343.75
