Yesterday, several Arab and Western countries expressed their solidarity with Iran, offering their condolences to the Iranian people and leadership on the death of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, his Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, and other Iranian officials in a helicopter crash in the northwest of the country the day before yesterday.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and his Crown Prince, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, offered their condolences on the death of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi and his entourage.
The Bahraini King, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, also expressed “his sincere condolences and deep sympathy” to the leadership and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq sent a telegram of condolences and sympathy to the Iranian leadership on the death of President Ibrahim Raisi and his accompanying delegation.
The Emir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, expressed his “sincere condolences and sincere sympathy” to the Iranian leadership and people.
The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, also expressed his “sincere condolences” to the Islamic Republic of Iran, the government and people.
In a statement by the Egyptian Presidency, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi announced the solidarity of the Arab Republic of Egypt with the Iranian leadership and people. The statement said: “The Arab Republic of Egypt mourns, with great sadness and grief, President Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hossein Amir Abdullahian, and their companions, who passed away… following a painful accident.”
On the “X” platform, Jordanian King Abdullah II mourned the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ibrahim Raisi, his Foreign Minister, Hussein Amir Abdullahian, and those accompanying them, expressing his solidarity “with the brothers in Iran in this difficult circumstance.”
Turkey expressed its deep sadness and support for Iran after the death of President Ebrahim Raisi, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan wrote on the “X” platform, expressing his “sincere condolences to the Iranian people, the government, and Iranian friends and brothers.”
Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif wrote on the “X” platform that his country “will be on a day of mourning, and the flags will be flown at half-mast” following the death of the president of “sisterly Iran,” stressing that “the Islamic Republic will overcome this tragedy with its usual courage.” For his part, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said, “President Xi Jinping pointed out that the tragic death of the Iranian president is a great loss for the Iranian people, and the Chinese people have lost a good friend.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a condolence telegram published by the Kremlin, expressed his sincere condolences “in the great tragedy that befell the people of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” noting that Ibrahim Raisi was a distinguished politician who devoted his life to serving his country. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a post on the “X” platform, expressed “deep sadness and shock,” and said that he offered his “sincere condolences to the Iranian people.”
Japanese government spokesman Yoshimasa Hayashi also announced that Japan “feels deep sadness,” offering its “sincere condolences” to the Iranian people.
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said about the Iranian president’s helicopter crash: “It is an extraordinary, unimaginable tragedy,” expressing his condolences to the Iranian people.
The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jassim Mohammed Al-Badawi, expressed his “deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the government and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” stressing the solidarity of the Gulf Cooperation Council with the Islamic Republic of Iran “in these difficult circumstances.” The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Hussein Ibrahim Taha, also offered his “sincere condolences” to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In addition, European Council President Charles Michel expressed the European Union’s “sincere condolences” on the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and other officials with him.
Yesterday, members of the UN Security Council observed a minute of silence in mourning for Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his Foreign Minister. The current president of the Council, Mozambican Ambassador Pedro Comisario Afonso, said: The Council “expresses its condolences and sympathies to their families and to the people of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
