Aquila Clean Energy announces that it connects a new solar photovoltaic plant in the province of Huelva. With a peak power of 56 MW, it will produce renewable energy to supply more than 27,300 homes annually and save 28,880 tons of CO2 emissions per year. Furthermore, this project has generated more than 190 jobs during its development and construction.
“This is the first plant that Aquila Clean Energy has launched in the province of Huelva. This project has contributed to increasing the generation of clean energy in the country and to greater economic development in the region. We will continue working to expand our portfolio of renewable projects in Andalusia, the region in which a large part of our projects in Spain are located”, he assured German GardeConstruction Director of Aquila Clean Energy in Spain.
In relation to the development of this plant, Aquila Clean Energy has implemented a series of compensatory measures stipulated in the Environmental Impact Statement. In this sense, the company has placed 208 bat nesting boxes and nesting boxes as well as anti-nesting plates and anti-collision elements along the power line. In addition, the planting of a vegetal screen, a restoration of the streams tributaries of the Arroyo del Encinar and a reforestation of an area of 21.71 hectares.
Under way
Aquila Clean Energy is developing other projects in Andalusia, located in the provinces of Jaén, Córdoba, Seville, Huelva, Cádiz, Granada and Almería. These projects have a capacity of more than 2 GW, which will generate energy to supply more than 976,000 homes.
In Spain, Aquila Clean Energy has developed a total of twelve projects that are already operational and have a total capacity of more than 400MW. In addition, the company currently has a portfolio with a capacity of around 4GW in solar photovoltaic, wind energy and battery energy storage technologies.
Aquila Clean Energy has developed since 2006 a total of 2.5 GW in commercial operation and manages a portfolio of projects in development and construction of more than 13 GW of solar photovoltaic, onshore wind and battery energy storage systems in 13 European countries.
