Genoa – A meeting at the Genoa Aquarium auditorium, also visible online, on photography and the sea. Wednesday afternoon, at 5 pm, last meeting of the cycle of conferences of the Friends of the Aquarium “Tales of Earth, Sea and Sky” with the online appointment dedicated to book by Vincenzo Paolillo, internationally awarded photographer, titled “Enchantment from the depths. Photographs of underwater worlds “. Together with the naturalist photographer, Angelo Mojetta, biologist and collaborator of Aqua magazine, and Fabio Mattioli, biologist of the Aquarium of Genoa will speak.
With this book Vincenzo Paolillo has given sea lovers a wonderful opportunity to take a journey into the many underwater worlds of our planet. IS a photo book and each photo is accompanied only by essential information (location, photographed subject), just enough to not be distracted and to remain focused on what the images tell and rediscover close affinities with our personal experiences, memories of encounters and underwater landscapes.
The book, accompanied by a presentation by the journalist and expert naturalist Mario Tozzi is divided into four sections: “color”, “shape”, “light”, “movement”. Ideally the pages of this volume could be imagined as a single, long series of frames, a paper slide without a predefined rhythm because each photo can have its own time to be observed, studied and analyzed in its details and serve as inspiration for a voyage.
Someone wrote that this book should not be missing in any diver’s library. Perhaps passion played an important role in this judgment, but certainly Paolillo’s book has the undeniable merit of having brought an Italian book of author’s underwater photographs back onto the shelves of our libraries and this was not just an act of courage, but above all of infinite love for the sea.
The three-part meeting will be concluded by Fabio Mattioli, biologist of the Aquarium of Genoa, who will explain why the Aquarium is a magnifying glass on the underwater world, allowing visitors to get to know the complex ecosystems present on earth. The visit is also an opportunity to make the public aware of the conservation problems that the Aquarium faces from a scientific and educational point of view.
The meeting takes place online on site and subsequently remains visible on the Association’s YouTube channel.
