The DC Extended Universe continues to produce more projects for the joy of fans. This time, expectations are on the second installment of Aquaman, a film that will bring back Jason Momoa in his role as the maritime vigilante.
After several months of waiting, the director of the feature film, James wan, announced through his Instagram account that Aquaman and the lost kingdom has already started filming in the UK.
Likewise, the filmmaker shared a photograph of a clapperboard that has the key title written on it. Necrus, something that has surprised fans of comics a lot.
According to the DC comics, Necrus is a dark and distorted city of Atlantis that had its first appearance in 1966. This place is ruled by a terrible tyrant named Mongo, who has a powerful army.
Unlike Atlantis, the beings of The black city they hold a strong grudge against the inhabitants of the surface, so they would have the intention of starting a war against them to see them defeated.
Under this premise, many netizens consider that Necrus could be part of the plot of the second installment of Wan’s film.
Aquaman 2 is scheduled to premiere in theaters for the December 16, 2022, although it is not known if it will be part of the DCEU or the new cinematic universe that DC Films has planned.
What will we see in Aquaman and the lost kingdom?
At the moment, the plot of the sequel and the new characters involved are unknown. The confirmed actors to date are Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Amber Heard (Mera), Patrick Wilson (Ocean master) and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Black Manta).
About its realization, Wan announced in the DC FanDome that the film would have more scenes such as the chase of the creatures of the abyss. “The story takes place in these underwater worlds that can be very scary,” he said.
For his part, Momoa announced that the sequel will be bigger than the previous one and that the effects will be of another level. “I’m really excited about the fans (…) We’re excited to do another one,” he previously told the media.
