Two bike changes per rider, zero points
Difficult weekend for theAprilia in their home race in Misano Adriatico, where the Noale team concluded the weekend of San Marino GP without any points conquered. Just like Jorge Martin, who had opted to replace the bike after the first drops of rain, the Aprilia duo also followed the same move as the championship leader. However, once they returned to the track, the rain stopped falling, forcing Maverick Viñales and Aleix Espargarò to return to the pits again to get the bike back on slick tires.
Deceived by difficulties
The double stop inevitably pushed the two Spanish riders to the back of the group, with Vinales who attempted a complex comeback from the rear which ended in 16th placejust outside the points zone: “I interpreted the situation based on the sensations I had in the saddle – explained #12 – when it started raining, it became really difficult to driveI had no feeling with the bike, and for this reason I entered the pits. It was raining quite a bit, especially in sectors 2 and 4. Then, shortly after returning to the track, it suddenly stopped raining. This race does not reflect our level: the speed and potential we have are higher. We need to delve deeper into the problem to understand why we can’t express ourselves at our best.”
Race ended with a retirement
Things went even worse I will sparewhich after the second tire change is withdrawn on lap 15: “At the start of the race I wasn’t very competitive, I was struggling to keep up with the group – he added – when I saw it was raining, I thought it was the right time to take a risk. This weekend we were not competitive, we are suffering from the lack of grip and we are not at the level we would like“.
