Ducati – or rather “the” Ducatis are behind: the Aprilia in the hands of Maverick Vinales flies and after having conquered a stunning pole triumphs in the Sprint Race of the MotoGP American Grand Prix. Absolute domination because Vinales was not only in the lead from start to finish but also set an incredible race pace. Indeed “loco” as a very sweaty Jorge Martin (third) defined it as soon as he got off the bike. And if he says it, he really understands a lot about crazy rhythms, we can trust him.
But the sprint news doesn't end here: in second place was Marc Marquez, who was thus the fastest of the Ducatis, no small record considering that MotoGP is now almost a single-brand championship. Of course, Bagnaia, only eighth at the finish line, had quite a few problems at the start, but this took nothing away from the spectacular race of Vinales who immediately took the lead after the start, dragging Marquez behind him. In fact, after the bad start, Pecco was unable to get back on top. And so the two-time world champion was also preceded by the increasingly emerging Spaniard Pedro Acosta on RedBull GasGas, by Aleix Espargaro on the other Aprilia, by teammate Enea Bastianini and by the Australian Jack Miller on Ktm. With these results, here is the third piece of news: Martin consolidates his lead in the world rankings, further gaining on Bastianini and Bagnaia in view of the actual race scheduled for Sunday evening. A race to be seen at this point.
