Apple and Epic Games continue their legal battle, and after the ruling that obliged the Cupertino house to integrate the external payments on iOS, the company appealed to postpone this implementation, seeing its requests accepted.
This happened rather quickly, considering that Apple’s appeal against access to external sites and stores was filed in October. The point is that such an outcome will allow the American company to gain additional time.
The change should in fact have been operational as of today, December 9, but Apple has obtained a referral until all the appeals in the lawsuit are resolved, which most likely means several months will pass.
The fact that Apple’s request was granted does not reverse the judge’s decision, which means that at some point these external payments will have to be implemented on iOS, but it slows the matter down further.
“Apple has shown that its appeal raises serious issues of merit in relation to the ruling of the court,” reads the resolution, which then guarantees the company’s motion to be included in the injunction.
Clearly these maneuvers will not affect the Fortnite ban, which will probably not return to the App Store for years.
