With a surprise update, Apple has announced the release window for AppleIntelligence in European Union countries. “Apple Intelligence – we now read in the new version of the press release – is initially launching for American English, and will be quickly expanded to include the local English variant in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and South Africa in December. Over the next year Apple Intelligence will be available in more languages, including Chinese, Korean, English (India), English (Singapore), French, Japanese, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, German, Vietnamese and more“.
Italian is therefore also among the languages that will be supported starting in 2025. After the initial distribution planned in American English with iOS 18.1, the functionality will then extend to other regions, including EU countries and therefore also Italy, also arriving on iPad and Mac.
If you remember, Apple had already announced Apple Intelligence for Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa and the United Kingdom by the end of 2024. In 2025, Chinese, French, Japanese and Spanish would then arrive; given the wide diffusion of these languages, the presence of Spanish and French did not confirm the arrival of Apple’s AI in the European Union. So much so that at first it was thought that many functions could even slip to 2026 for Italy.
The update of the official page drastically changes these perspectives. At this point it is likely that there have been steps forward towards the agreement with the European Union, concerned about user privacy and compliance with the DMA; it is also not to be excluded that an acceleration may have arrived after the confirmation of the new members of the European Commission.
What do you think? Could the arrival of Apple Intelligence in 2025 make you reconsider the idea of buying an iPhone 16? Tell us your opinion in the comments. We remind you in closing that in the meantime iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 are already available and that apparently the pre-sales of iPhone 16 are lower than expected, even if analysts are undecided on the causes.
