Apex Legends, Respawn Entertainment’s battle royale, is back to being the most viewed on Twitch, snapping out of rivals Fortnite and Call of Duty: Warzone. The latter is currently experiencing a small crisis of players and audiences, waiting for the launch of Call of Duty: Vanguard, which should give it a new impetus.
The result of Apex Legends comes after a start to the year to forget. The rebirth began in July 2021, precisely with the start of the Call of Duty: Warzone crisis, essentially due to the presence of a large number of cheater, which got many to look elsewhere, including some top streamers like Nick “NICKMERCS” Kolcheff, Tim “TimTheTatman” Betar and Jack “CouRage” Dunlop.
From July to September, the Electronic Arts title has accumulated 270 million hours of views on the Amazon streaming platform, in contrast with all the other big names in the genre, including Fortnite and PUBG Battlegrounds.
In second position (actually in third) we still find PUBG Mobile, with 247 million hours, followed by Fortnite with 246 million hours. The only title to have done better than Apex Legends is the mobile game Garena Free Fire, which has amassed 326 million views.
We will see if October will confirm this trend or if, as it seems, the Season 6 and the Verdansk map update will help Call of Duty: Warzone rise again at the expense of Apex Legends.
