Antifascist pasta: throughout Italy the arrest of the Duce in 1943 is celebrated by giving a plate of pasta in the square
This Sunday, as every year, at Casa Cervi, at the large “ai Campirossi” Park in Gattarico (Reggio Emilia), the historic anti-fascist Pastasciutta was held. Despite the restrictions for Covid-19, which limited the places available to 700-800, public participation was extraordinary. The initiative recalls the gesture of the Cervi family, who offered a plate of pasta to the population of Campegine following the arrest of Mussolini on 25 July 1943 by decision of the Grand Council of Fascism.
The anti-fascist Pastasciutta is actually a very important event also in other parts of Italy. For example, the Popular Kitchens founded by Roberto Morgantini went to the symbolic places of the Nazi-fascist massacres to serve the anti-fascist Pastasciutta on the occasion of the Appennino in Festa, organized in Vado di Monzuno.
Anti-fascist pasta, the comment against: “Why are these antics always given birth in Bologna?”
The anti-fascist Pasciutta is obviously an event deeply felt by those who feel the battle against all dictatorships is their own, but not everyone is of the same opinion. On Twitter, in fact, comments against the initiative are not rare, such as that of Interista Tradizionalista, a right-wing satirical page that deals with sports and politics: “Why are these antics always born in Bologna?”.
