The defections within the organization chart continue Jaguar Land Rover. This time it was to leave the British car manufacturer Nick Rogers, head of JLR’s engineering division and responsible for the development of some of the most important cars of recent years, including the Jaguar I-Pace and Land Rover Defender. The engineer announced his farewell to the company by the end of 2021 after a 37-year career.
Rogers was put in charge of Jaguar Land Rover’s engineering division in 2015 and led the JLR team at a pivotal time in the development of the British automaker’s range, not just developing the i-pace but also the new generation of Land Rover Defender. At the moment, the name of who will take the vacant position has not been announced: “His successor will be the subject of a subsequent announcement in the coming weeks” a spokesperson for the company explained. Rogers announced his resignation on LinkedIn: “For over 37 years it has been an honor to work with such an incredible team of people to design and launch some of the most desirable vehicles in the world. The most recent launches of the New Defender and New Range Rover, in particular, as tech disrupters, are a testament to how the JLR family has transformed and grown: resilience, determination and pioneering passion are incredible. Today, after nearly four decades, it is time to deliver a technical team stronger than ever, with a pioneering passion to continue creating disruptive products in this ever-changing world. “
Immediate words of thanks and farewell from the CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, Thierry Bolloré: “I’d like to thank Nick for an amazing 37 years with our company. Over the past few decades, Nick has lived, shaped and led much of the history of Land Rover and Jaguar Land Rover. We wish him every success in the future ”. Rogers joined Land Rover in 1984 as a technical apprentice, working in body engineering and vehicle testing before moving on to head first the Land Rover division and then the entire company.
