Golden eagle attacked a little girl who was playing outside in Orkland municipality in central Norway on Saturday, says the Norwegian Broadcasting Company NRK. A Norwegian newspaper also writes about it VG.

The girl’s father tells NRK that Kotka’s claws left scratch marks on the girl’s face. In addition, the girl received a few stitches in the back of her head after the situation.

The eagle that attacked the girl was euthanized.

Eagle the attack began when the girl was outside playing on her family’s small farm. In addition to the girl, there were other children and adults in the yard, the girl’s father says.

“The eagle appeared out of nowhere and grabbed the girl,” the father describes to NRK. He was not there himself when the eagle attacked.

The girl’s mother and a neighbor rushed to the girl’s aid. However, they could not get the eagle to leave the girl alone. Finally, a gamekeeper came to the scene and managed to kill the eagle.

The gamekeeper tells NRK that he believes the eagle saw the girl as prey. He estimated that the golden eagle was young.
