Rumors have been circulating for months regarding the presence of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in Spider-Man: No Way Home. The two other versions of Spider-Man, according to rumors, would be ready to return to the screens alongside Tom Holland.
Although all the actors involved have denied rumors, a new clue in favor of the hypothesis that Garfield may be present in the new film of the Marvel Studios. The actor would, in fact, appear on a billboard that is linked to the teaser trailer of Spider-Man: No Way Home in Russia.
This strange incident was published on social media by a fan-page dedicated to the film. The Russian website of the famous sweets brand Skittles, as part of its partnership with Sony Pictures in a cross-promotion for the release of the film, he would use an image by Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man to connect to the teaser trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home. The actor was taken directly from The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Although the publicity was later removed and branded as an error, it adds to the coincidences that revolve around the film. If Garfield were indeed present in the film, neither the actors involved nor Sony Pictures would seem ready to announce it yet. For his part, the actor, when asked about the issue, said he had nothing to declare since never received an offer from Marvel Studios or Sony, to return to play the role of Spider-Man.
Many are, however, convinced that is lying, probably because it is unable to confirm and disseminate sensitive information. Andrew Garfield also added that since filming Spider-Man: No Way Home they ended months ago, it would be time too late for such a revelation.
A video had even spread on the web that portrayed him on the set of the film. The same author of the video, however, claimed to have created a fake to “troll the internet” and that Garfield was never really immortalized during the filming of Spider-Man 3.
Before him, Tom Holland, the current Spider-Man of the MCU, had also denied the rumors about Garfield and Tobey Maguire in the film. He had assured that he had read the script from start to finish and had not found it not even a cameo concerning the other two versions of Spider-Man.
At this point, the only thing that can definitively confirm or deny the rumors of these months will be the release of the film in cinemas, the next December 17.
