A third of Russians who bought an apartment on a mortgage over the past five years have not yet taken advantage of the tax deduction. This data was disclosed by analysts from Raiffeisenbank, writes RIA News…
Most of those who did not receive the deduction (41 percent of the respondents) said that they could not find the time for this. 31 percent of respondents believe that the time has not come to submit documents yet. Another 12 percent explained that they do not pay taxes because of the “gray” salary and are not entitled to a deduction, and 8 percent of Russians did not even know about such a possibility.
At the same time, almost 13 percent of those who issued the tax deduction immediately received the entire amount. The survey involved more than one thousand people from the population of seven cities with a population of one million – including from Moscow and St. Petersburg.
On July 20, Raiffeisenbank experts said that only 17 percent of mortgage borrowers in Russia know about the possibility of receiving two tax deductions when buying an apartment on credit. Tax deductions from the purchase of real estate and payment of interest on a home loan can be used only once in a lifetime, having submitted documents only for the last three years.
