An incredible road from Malpica to Finisterre
The Camiño do Faros begins in the smallest and newest of the entire Costa da Morte, that of Punta Nariga in Malpica. From there begins a first stage in which you will cross up to six beaches, viewpoints with panoramic views of the Atlantic and you will climb mountains and rock formations until you reach the Niñóns beach. The second section of the route starts from this sandy area, characterized by coves, cliffs and dunes that are near the Corme-Laxe estuary, where the Anllóns River flows into an estuary.
From that point begins a third stage that Ponteceso leaves behind to enter two ancient places in Galicia, the Borneiro fort and the Dombate dolmen. After seeing the pre-Roman constructions, you climb the imposing Mount Castelo de Lourid, the highest point of the route and from which we descend again towards the estuary to get to Laxe, but not before passing through more fantastic beaches.
From there a fourth stage less difficult than the previous ones. Even if you have to go up to Monte da Insua to see the Laxe lighthouse, passes through incredible enclaves on the shores of the ocean, such as the extraordinary and peculiar Crystals Beach, before reaching the Arou town, that marks the equator of this impressive route.
The fifth section The Camiño do Faros not only runs through natural enclaves of great beauty such as steep cliffs or the dunes of Monte Branco, but you will also be able to see buildings such as the English Cemetery, the Vilán Lighthouse or the Hermitage of the Virgen del Monte before reaching the urban center of Camariñas.
The sixth stage of the route is 32 kilometers and is the longest of all, as detailed on its website, but as it is flat you will be able to quietly admire the most rural Galicia: from beautiful villages with traditional architecture to imposing buildings like the Monastery of the Virgin of the Sea or the Muxía lighthouse, in this section you will see impressive places that are a little far from the Atlantic.
From Muxía the penultimate and hardest section of the Camiño do Faros, and the coastline that separates said town from Nemiña is one of the wildest there is in Galicia. Inaccessible beaches, steep cliffs and lighthouses in imposing places, such as Touriñán, the westernmost point of peninsular Spain, They await you at this stage in which you can already sense the end of the route.
To finish this spectacular route along the Costa da Morte, a succession of beaches and cliffs before reaching the acquaintance Finisterre lighthouse, which puts an end to a journey of more than 200 kilometers and eight days of hard roads.
