The Ministry of Defense signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Justice on enhancing joint judicial cooperation. The memorandum was signed by His Excellency Muhammad bin Ahmed Al Bawardi, Minister of State for Defense Affairs, and for the Ministry of Justice, His Excellency Abdullah bin Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi, Minister of Justice, and in the presence of Matar Salem Al Dhaheri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense. Major General Salem Saeed Ghafan Al Jabri, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Resources and Support Services, Major General Salim Juma Al Kaabi, Head of the Executive Department of Military Judiciary, Saeed Ali Bahbouh, Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice, Judge Abdul Rahman Murad Al Balushi, Director of the International Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Justice, and Counsellor Abdullah Hassan Al-Marzouki, head of the conventions department at the Ministry of Justice.
The memorandum of understanding aims to enhance joint judicial cooperation to develop the military judicial system and the quality of performing judicial work for members of the military judiciary.
His Excellency Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Bawardi, Minister of State for Defense Affairs, said on this occasion: The agreement comes within the framework of the state’s strategy and the projects of the fifty-year plan, with the aim of qualifying and developing human cadres from members of the military judiciary and in implementation of the ministry’s vision towards preparing and qualifying Emirati national cadres to provide them with relevant modern legal knowledge and strengthen and development of legal talent.
His Excellency added: “This memorandum comes out of the Ministry of Defense’s keenness to deepen joint cooperation and activate institutional communication channels with the official authorities in the country, to achieve its desired goals aimed at ensuring the continuity of rehabilitation and development of its human cadres according to the highest standards, and opening new horizons that work to enrich their knowledge capabilities. With scientific and applied experiences and expertise, and employing its human potential to deal professionally with changes and assess future challenges.” His Excellency Abdullah Sultan bin Awwad Al Nuaimi, Minister of Justice, said: The signing of the memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Defense comes within the framework of implementing the objectives of the strategic plan of the Ministry of Justice with its partners, through legislation that keeps pace with future aspirations based on complementary partnerships, and strengthening a more flexible judicial system for a safe society.
Exchange of experiences
His Excellency Abdullah Al Nuaimi said: We in the Ministry of Justice are always keen to exchange experiences with partners, through joint work teams, and continuous communication, praising the efforts made by the military judiciary in achieving justice in its areas of competence, with all standards of integrity and transparency, and facilitating litigation procedures before military courts and prosecutions . The memorandum of understanding provides for the exchange of judicial expertise between the public judiciary and the military judiciary, and cooperation in the field of holding practical and academic courses and programs and professional development.
