The Murcian muralist and illustrator, firefighter by profession and blues musician, passed away in 2020
The exhibition ‘Marcos Amorós: el painter del blues’, an exhibition-tribute to the unique artist where, in addition to his work, you can see pieces by 23 other artists with whom he coincided throughout of his career. Muralist painter and illustrator, Marcos Amorós (Murcia, 1959-Cartagena, 2020), firefighter by profession and blues musician, signed, throughout his career, twenty individual exhibitions and thirty group exhibitions, in which he shared space with a large number of painters.
The exhibition, open until April 17, is jointly organized by the Departments of Culture of Cartagena and Murcia, and was opened by the Deputy Mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón; the councilor for the area of Culture, Equality and Youth, David Martínez Noguera; the delegate councilor for Culture, Carlos Piñana; and was attended by relatives of the painter and the curators of the exhibition, Javier Lorente and Jesús de la Peña.
The artists participating in ‘Marcos Amorós. The painter of the blues’ are Emilio Barrachina, Petrus Borgia, María José Caride, Sofía Ge, Gaby Guillén, Rafael Hortal, María José Cárceles, Jesús Inglés, Kraser, Javier Lorente, Luis Marino, Piedad Martínez Torres, Carlos Montero, Belén Orta, Álvaro Peña, Cristóbal Pérez, Pedro Diego Pérez Casanova, Fernando Sáenz de Elorrieta, Rosana Sitcha, Antonio Tapia, Salvador Torres, Antonio Vidal Máiquez and Silvia Viñao. Many of them were also present at the opening.
Born in the Murcian neighborhood of Carmen, and a disciple of the painters of the Valencian School, he was in love with oriental culture and founded the ArtNostrum collective of Mediterranean Plastic Artists. Illustrations of him can be seen in literary, cultural and scientific publications. He participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions.
