An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 occurred on the night of Saturday, February 26, in the Pacific Ocean. This was reported by the press service GU EMERCOM of Russia by region.
It is specified that in some areas of the village of Nikolsky in Kamchatka, tremors were felt with a force of up to four points, there were no injuries.
“According to the Kamchatka Branch of the Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 <...> at a depth of 17 kilometers. The epicenter of the earthquake was located in the Pacific Ocean, 62 km south of the village of Nikolsky, Aleutian municipal district. In some areas of the regional center, tremors were felt with a force of up to four points, ”the ministry said.
The rescue teams inspected socially significant and potentially dangerous facilities, educational institutions, energy, heat and water supply facilities, as well as residential buildings in the Aleutian municipal district. There are no casualties or damage. Housing and communal services and energy facilities are operating normally.
Earlier, on February 21, an earthquake of magnitude 5 occurred in Kamchatka. The epicenter was in the Avacha Bay, 40 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. In some areas, tremors of up to three magnitudes were felt.
