An attack on a state aircraft weapons factory in Türkiye leaves several dead and injured

At least one person has died and several have been injured in an attack on a state-owned military aircraft factory on the outskirts of Ankara, which the Government has considered a “terrorist attack.”

“A terrorist attack has been carried out against the TUSAŞ facilities in Kahramankazan (district) in Ankara. There are martyrs and wounded,” Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya wrote on the social network X. During the attack, explosions and shootings were heard at the entrance to the factory.

A large number of police, as well as firefighters and ambulances, went to the scene and, according to the NTV radio station, shooting continues inside the factory. The chain indicates that the factory workers are heading to shelters and there is talk of the possibility that some have been taken hostage.

CNN Türk assures that the attackers arrived in a taxi at the factory and that at least one blew himself up at the door while others managed to access the premises.

TUSAŞ develops and manufactures some of the most prestigious military aircraft in the Turkish weapons program, such as the Kaan fighter-bomber, still in the pipeline, the Hürjet training aircraft or the Hürkus light aircraft.
